A Multigenerational Mother’s Day at Vancouver’s Secret Garden Tea Company…and a special giveaway!

Mother’s Day is a really special time for me to reflect on the four generations of women we have in our family.  Each of us are the eldest of our generation…and all of us strong, independent women!

I am lucky to have my Nana, Mom and daughter all alive and well, and living in the same city.  The time we spend all together is precious.  So, I was delighted to team up with the The Secret Garden Tea Company to share my Multigenerational Mother’s Day celebration with you!  All four of us gathered at the gorgeous Kerrisdale location to spend some quality time together over High Tea.  It was the perfect location for such a special gathering. Local Vancouver cafe owner has her Mom to thank for more than just recipes.

For Mother’s Day, I wanted to find a great, local business that had some kind of tie to motherhood and the way that our moms affect our lives in ways we sometimes don’t even expect.  My friend, Stephanie, suggested I speak with Delainy, owner of The Gluten Free Epicurean, located in our Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.  Delainy’s simple and cute cafe opened a few months ago and, from what I understand, business is thriving!

Fear and loathing in motherhood: thoughts on anti-feminism and modern parenting.

As mothers, I’m pretty sure we can all say that we are guilty, from time to time, of passing judgement on the parenting style of another.  I’ve been at this job for five years now and I am not innocent of critiquing the way another mom is doing it and thinking my way is better.  On the other hand, and more often than not, I am constantly questioning, worrying and wondering if my way actually is the right way…so who am I to judge?
