Absurd Vancouver Property (March 6th, 2013)

We got a little glimmer of sun here in Vancouver this weekend…and that glimmer was all it took to get me dreaming about warmer days that are coming soon (but not soon enough!!).

To tie me over, I thought I’d look at properties in places where the sun shines almost all the time.

Places like Scottsdale, where for $1.7 million you could live in this 5000 square foot getaway:

scottsdale

4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, chef’s kitchen and sun. Every. Single. Day. Read more…

Absurd Vancouver Property: Canada’s most expensive home…the “Vancouver Versailles”

The second most expensive mansion to ever be listed in Canada is situated in, you guessed it, Vancouver.  Well, West Vancouver to be precise.

At $37.9 million, the home is being called a complete “tear down” with value only being in the land.

I can’t imagine why…it’s just so gorgeous!!

Absurd Vancouver Property (January 11, 2013)

With the recent drops in the Vancouver real estate market, I anticipated that it might be difficult to find an Absurd Property to feature.  I wasn’t disappointed, however, there are still many homes listed with shocking price tags.  I hovered around the $2.6 million dollar range, which in Los Angeles, could buy you the home of former Grey’s Anatomy alum, Katherine Heigl:

Absurd Vancouver Property (December 6, 2012)

With the “softening” Vancouver real estate market, it’s hard to believe there are still absurd properties out there…okay, who am I kidding?  It’s Vancouver…there’s always a ridiculous multi-million dollar listing out there ripe for ridiculing.  First things first, though.  Let’s look at some $2 million + celebrity homes.

First up, the $2.3 million home recently put up for sale by “The Apprentice” alum, Bill Rancic and his wife Giuliana:

Absurd Surrey Property of the Week? You be the judge…

Surrey Developer, Tien Sher’s “Balance” development proposes micro-condos ranging in size from 260-650 square feet. Prices will start at $109K.

Well, it’s happening.  We are moving into the era of micro-condos in the Lower Mainland.  Surrey developer Tien Sher is in the process of getting approval for Balance, Canada’s smallest condo development, to Surrey City Center (Whalley, to be exact).  I think they could be on to something.  This development has everyone who talks about Real Estate in Vancouver abuzz. Absurd Vancouver Property of the Week (September 13th, 2012)

I’m back!!

This week I’m setting my sights on the $3.5 million mark.  Prices are “apparently” coming down in Vancouver, but what do mega millions buy you elsewhere?

In Massachusetts, you could buy this unique (that’s one word for it) “boat home”:

Absurd Vancouver Property of the Week (August 30th, 2012)

I love heritage-style homes.  There is something about the old world charm paired with modern fixtures and finishings, that appeals to me.  Often, however, homes like these come with a hefty price tag (depending on how Absurd the market is where you’re looking).

In Calgary, you could purchase this restored 100 year old home for $649, 500:

Yes, it’s and old timer, but it’s solid and has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a good sized lot for the kiddos to play in. Read more…

Absurd Vancouver Property of the Week (August 23, 2012)

I awoke this morning to rain.  For some reason, Porky Pig’s voice from the old Looney Tunes cartoons was in my head…

Is that all? Are the curtains closed on our summer here in Vancouver?  My thoughts turned to warmer climates…and, of course, houses.  What if summer never had to end — where would you live? Read more…
