Absurd Vancouver Property (January 11, 2013)

With the recent drops in the Vancouver real estate market, I anticipated that it might be difficult to find an Absurd Property to feature.  I wasn’t disappointed, however, there are still many homes listed with shocking price tags.  I hovered around the $2.6 million dollar range, which in Los Angeles, could buy you the home of former Grey’s Anatomy alum, Katherine Heigl:

Heigl 2.6 million

The 3690 square foot Southern Colonial style home features 4-bedrooms, 3.5-baths, wood floors, a gourmet kitchen with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, a fireplace in the living room, a spa-style master bath, large verandas, and lush gardens.

In Palto Alto, California, the late Steve Jobs estate is valued at $2.6 million:

Built in 1920, the single-family property is located on over half an acre of land, and has 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and one half bathroom.

Back in Canada,  $2.6 million will buy you this home in Toronto’s prestigious Glenorchy neighbourhood:

tdot $2.6

This home is situated on a 110 x 120 ft. lot with an in-ground outdoor pool out back.

…and in our “down” market in Vancouver, someone still thought it would be a good idea to list this beauty for $2.6 million:

The listing states, “…a 3 year old, 4315 square foot house next door was sold for $4.4 million in May 2011 with the same lot size. Great investment potential. Hold now or build later.”  Perhaps there are still buyers out there for lots like this.  What are your thoughts?

You already know mine…

Vancouver are you f*%king kidding me!!??

Once again, speechless. Are there really buyers out there willing to spend on this home? (and don’t get me wrong, I’d be more than pleased to own it, but not for 2.6 mill)

Actually I am surprised by the Toronto one too ….Vancouver one is totally fu*king kidding me….Seems some Chinese bought the 4.4 million one with all the extra money from an outsourced American company…

Vancouver is a story that has been repeated many times all over the world and countless times in history. These prices will fall and when it happens it will be quick and brutal.
