Candlelight vigil tonight at the Vancouver Art Gallery to honour Newtown victims
Like many of you, I’m sure, I cannot get the tragedy that unfolded in Newtown, Connecticut out of my mind. I’ll be in the middle of getting ready for work, or helping my kids get dressed and the news will re-enter my mind. I imagine the nightmare the parents of the tiny victims are living and feel sick and helpless.
Aside from participating in conversations about gun control and awareness and help for those who suffer with mental illness, many need an opportunity to show support in a quiet way, with members of our community who are struggling to come to terms with this event (is that even possible?).
Tonight there will be a candlelight vigil at the Vancouver Art Gallery to honour the memory of the lives lost and show support to the grieving families of Newtown Connecticut.
Everyone is encouraged to wear Green and White (the school colors) to support the families of this tragic event.
Organizers say candles will be provided but it would help a lot if people could please bring extras if they have them.
Vancouver Candlelight Vigil for Newtown, CT
Date: Wednesday, December 19th, 2012
Time: 6:00-7:00pm
Location: Vancouver Art Gallery – 750 Hornby Street Vancouver, BC

I wish I could attend, but I can’t. I too can not stop thinking of this horrible, senseless tragedy. Every time I bake cookies, or watch a Christmas special with my son, I can’t help but think that those parents should be doing that with their children, instead of planning their funeral. My heart breaks.
