What characteristics define the Vancouver Housewife?
Casual but stylish. Can often be seen at the local Starbucks. Workout gear seems to be the norm. Lives in a condo or a rental of some sort since owning a home isn’t all that attainable. Eco-friendly.
Are you a good representation of a Vancouver Housewife? Why?
I bike to work 2-4 times a week (so there’s the workout gear bit). We rent a house because having owned places in the suburbs we missed being able to walk everywhere and do cool city stuff. Other than that, I am not your typical housewife. I’m too tired to be a Martha.
Do you feel that living in Vancouver in some way defines who you are? Please explain.
Having grown up just outside of Vancouver, I have a fierce attachment to the West Coast. I love the ocean and forest so much that when I imagine living away from both those things I feel a vague panic.
Have you ever had cosmetic surgery, Botox, Restalyne injections, etc.? If so, please provide details. If you haven’t had any of the above procedures performed, would you consider it?
No. I like to be able to non-verbally communicate surprise and shock to my child when necessary.
Other than your children (if applicable), what is the accomplishment of which you are most proud?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and although I don’t work in the field, I do use my skills on a daily basis to quietly analyze the general public and avoid psychopaths.
Has the desire for affluence/power/money been a motivator in the choices you’ve made for your life?
Not really, unless you count a desire to be able to afford basic rent and groceries.
Tell us about your stuff. What do you like to buy, collect, etc.?
I have a somewhat healthy obsession with thrift store shopping.
Do you have “staff” in your home? (E.g. nanny, driver, chef, etc.)
I wish, but there would be nowhere to put them.
Do you belong to any clubs, teams, groups or social organizations?
Does the public library count?
Finish this sentence: “My life’s motto is ….”
Do more of what makes you happy.
