Absurd Vancovuer Property of the Week: October 12, 2012
I tried to stay under a millon dollars this week. The price point was $950K and I looked across Canada.
In Guelph, Ontario I found this:
Touted as one of “Guelph’s most historical homes,” this stone mansion was built by the United Church In The 1870s. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and is situated on half an acre of land.
In Calgary, for $950K I came across this property:
Located just outside downtown in the Elbow Park neighbourhood, this 100 year old home has well maintained heritage features (the woodwork is incredible).
A short drive from Vancouver, this amazing home is available in Delta for $950K:
With over 3600 SF of Westcoast contemporary architecture this home oozes style & function. Situated on an extra large 13,500 SF lot.
Back in Vancouver for $950K, you can scoop up this beauty:
(Off) white picket fence and all…
Vancouver…are you f*%#ing kidding me??

Some people may not like that you’ve included a place like Guelph on your blog, as it is distinctly suburban. However, having grown up there, I know it as a vibrant, safe community that is great for raising kids in and that now has direct commuter train service to Toronto (which is far, far better than any service the westcoast express currently offers). Also, this home is a large heritage home and is on half an acre in the middle of the city’s downtown. If you’re willing to live in a newer home, in one of the more outlying neighborhoods, a three bedroom three bathroom home can be had from $300,000 to $450,000, depending on the neighborhood you choose. A lot more affordable than Vancouver, or any of it’s suburbs.
Melissa,
The Vancouver listing is clearly a knockdown at a knockout price!
All good things,
Paul
Haha (off) white picket fence. The Vancouverian Dream.
