Amy Lee has many titles including mother, wife, and entrepreneur. ‘Housewife’ is definitely not one of her titles. Her contribution to this world is letting children know how much they are loved, cherished and how much they matter. She does this by combining photography and letter writing. If you want to create tangible expression of your love so your children will always know how much you love them, visit her The Connection We Share.
When I think of a housewife, I think of the stay-at-home mom. This woman gave up her career to raise her children. She cooks, cleans and prepares 3 meals a day with snacks in between. She drives her children to their many activities and her whole life revolves around her family
Are you a good representation of a Vancouver Housewife? Why?
No, because I’m not a stay-at-home mom. I don’t want my only identity to be ‘the housewife’ or ‘Elle’s mom’ or ‘John’s wife’. I need to have my own life and do things I’m passionate about and still be a mom and a wife.
Do you feel that living in Vancouver in some way defines who you are? Please explain.
I have 2 answers to this question.
Answer 1: Absolutely not. My values and my beliefs define who I am, not my postal code. If I’m living in another city with a different postal code, I would still be the same person.
Answer 2: If I lived in another Country, one with a culture much different than the ‘Vancouver/Canadian’ culture, I think I would be a different person because I would be raised with different values and attitudes. So in this case, yes, living in Vancouver does somewhat defines who I am.
Have you ever had cosmetic surgery, Botox, Restalyne injections, etc.? If so, please provide details. If you haven’t had any of the above procedures performed, would you consider it?
Nope, nope, and no. What is Restalyne?
When I was younger, I did consider getting a facelift when I’m 60 (if needed), but now that I have a daughter, I do question what message that is sending her. Shouldn’t we teach our kids to appreciate our own unique beauty and know we are perfect just as God made us?
Other than your children (if applicable), what is the accomplishment of which you are most proud?
There are a lot of things I’m proud of, but I don’t let it get to my head. The things we are most proud of could be taken away and the things we’ve built could be unbuilt just like that. Enjoy and appreciate it while it lasts and move on to create more things you could be proud of.
Has the desire for affluence/power/money been a motivator in the choices you’ve made for your life?
Sure, of course. I have a lifestyle I enjoy and a vision for an even more awesome life. I have career and financial goals so the choices I make need to move me closer to the life I want for myself.
Tell us about your stuff. What do you like to buy, collect, etc.?
I’m going to let the cat out of the bag – I don’t particularly enjoy shopping, especially with a toddler in tow. I would prefer it if what I want would magically appear in front of me.
So you can see I don’t place very high value on my ‘stuff’, but I do value the images I have hanging on my walls. Pretty much every room has photographs of my family and I. When I’m having a bad day, it helps to look at these images and be grateful for the beautiful family I’ve been given and remember what is most important.
Do you have “staff” in your home? (E.g. nanny, driver, chef, etc.)
I do plan to have a live-in nanny….now is not the right time.
Do you belong to any clubs, teams, groups or social organizations?
I go to a business building group…does that count?
Finish this sentence: “My life’s motto is ….
I don’t have a motto but there are some quotes/sayings that I think about often….
People are more beautiful when you see them with your heart
You may think the grass is greener on the other side, but if you take the time to water your own grass it would be just as green
In these moments of life, may we see with depth what matters most
And my favorite that I bluntly say to people who have a dream but aren’t pursuing it: Someday never comes
