Absurd Vancouver Property of the Week (May 28, 2012)
A reader sent me a link to this beautiful home in Pasadena California. Click on the photo to see the stunning interior. I have a serious house crush on this one.
Listing price: 1.1 Million
I searched for what one could buy for the same price in Vancouver (…and before anyone gets on my case, I know Pasadena is not “equivalent” to Vancouver, but it is sunny there and, for me, that counts for A LOT!).
For the bargain price of $1.1 million (and, in Vancouver, $1.1 is a bargain – truly an absurdity in itself) you could be the proud owner of this “recently renovated” home on W.41st Avenue:
A real beauty! Not feeling the Oakridge vibe? Okay…how about this “well cared for” bungalow on Park Drive?
Nice, right? But, everyone knows you can get more bang for your buck if you head to the Eastside…so how about this Killarney home (it’s pretty much a mansion):
Vancouver…are you f*%#ing kidding me?

OMG! Just caught your blog via someone posting it on crackbook and have been reading them all…. LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Your truth cracks me up! Thanks for making me and my fiance smile today
I want to MARRY that house
I love this part of your blog, but it also makes me sad. My husband and I tried to work the numbers so we could own a place for our family, but after 7 years, we left Vancouver. I miss our old (rented) home, friends, and the mountains and beaches we left behind. We are both professionals, but there’s no way we could make it work. I still listen to the peak on the internet every day, but sometimes that makes me sad too…
Or you could move to the sunshine coast just 40 min. Ferry from vancouver and get this for 1.1 mil http://www.realtylink.org/prop_search/Detail.cfm?areatitle=&ARPK=&ComID=&agentid=&MLS=V952644&rowc=27&rowp=26&BCD=GV&imdp=7&RSPP=5&AIDL=190,904,905,906,907,908&SRTB=P_Price&ERTA=True&MNAGE=0&MXAGE=200&MNBT=0&MNBD=0&PTYTID=5&MNPRC=900000&MXPRC=2000000&SCTP=RS
Just discovered your blog. We’re doing the 30′s Vancouver grind too. It’s really tough, but we get by on frugal living. There is such an interesting dialogue happening on this site. I will most certainly be a frequent visitor!
hahaah

I guess technically it is.
You have a gift for comic timing and build up.
